Sunday 26 March 2006

More photos taken this week! Friends have lent us the baby bouncer (we have now lengthened it so that Lauren's feet touch the floor!). She loves it, although doesn't jump in it - she walks around in circles! The photo of her, Dave & Kitty was taken today (top was a present from Jane, Alan & Bertie). Dave was holding Lauren when Kitty jumped up and made herself comfortable. Lauren was staring at Kitty until I grabbed the camera! The final photo is just a close up of her before she was going to bed one evening (outfit was lent to us - body is too big, but attached feet are too small!).

This week has been fairly hectic socially! Lauren's godfather, Ash, arrived on Thursday from London and met Lauren for the first time. I think they are both smitten as they just stared at each other for ages! Due to Mark & Tara's wedding yesterday, lots of our friends have been flying back from the UK, and Lauren has been meeting them all. She's been really good and social and has had plenty of smiles for everyone. Today she's not been as happy - either she's lacking in sleep or she could be teething as her cheeks have been a bit red and she was very interested in her teething ring.

She's been continuing well with the solids, and is definitely getting better at feeding, although it might be that I'm improving at feeding her! She's better when eating in the morning - I think she's too tired in the afternoon. Otherwise all is well and Dave & I are still besotted with her and think that we have the perfect baby daughter.

Sunday 19 March 2006

Both photos were taken this week. In the one on the left she is wearing an outfit given to her by Roanna, Mark & Emma who live opposite us. In the photo on the right Lauren is with her friend James (who's the son of Lou & Dan). James obviously is more aware of the camera, although he did seem to be very interested in Lauren's dummy most of the time! Lauren was just fascinated by James and stared at him.

Lauren started on solids yesterday - her first "solid" food was pear (mushed up so it's hardly solid!) and she seemed to like it. I gave her some more today and she went a bit mad when she'd finished - she was kicking her legs and waving her arms around - I hope that's a sign of her liking my cooking!

Otherwise a fairly quiet week - her eyes still haven't decided what colour they will be, her hair seems a little darker this week, but that's probably because it needs washing! She's still a great smiler and is a delight to be with.

Sunday 12 March 2006

These photos were both taken on Friday - this is the first time she's played with toys in the bath, and she loved them - it gave her something else to hit at! For those who weren't sure - Lauren is in the bath with me and not her Daddy - his hands are much bigger than mine!

This week not much has happened - Lauren is definitely a thumb-sucker - she just isn't too fussy about which hand! Her eyes still haven't decided what colour they are going to be - sometimes they are grey and at others they are brown, and sometimes they are a mix of the two at the same time!. Her hair seems to be lightening up to light brown, and is curly when wet, but very straight when dry! She constantly has her hands in her mouth and is dribbling a lot.

We're trying to get her to roll onto her side, but she's not really interested in doing it by herself. She's also not too keen on tummy time, but we're trying to do some time every day. She is giggling a lot and talking a great deal - finding the range in her voice with the odd high squeal. She is starting to watch us eat and copies us - ie moves her hand to her mouth and opens her mouth at the same time we do! She is noticing Kitty more and just stares at her whenever Kitty comes into the room. She is aware of a lot more things and really giggles when she sees herself in the mirror. She is so much fun to be with and I find myself smiling and laughing a lot when I am with her. If she does cry she's quite easy to distract - just getting her to stand up usually does the trick!

Sunday 5 March 2006

These photos were taken on Friday, which is when Lauren moved out of her moses basket and into her cot. She's been perfectly happy in it - as now she can see through the bars. Unfortunately she kicks off her blankets, so I start off with a muslin wrap drapped over her, and once she's asleep I then cover her up!

We met up with some of the ante-natal group on Wednesday and Lauren is lighter than the other babies by at least a kilo, and in some cases two! Dave & I were a little concerned until we realised that she's happy and content and that she's just growing out of her 0-3 months clothes, whereas all the others are growing out of 3-6 month ones - and they're all about 3 months old!

We took her to the pub yesterday and she was amazing - she was happy to sit in her pram and watch everyone - as long as she can see what's happening she seems to be happy! She's really sucking her thumb now - Dave only sees her sucking her right one, whereas I only see her with the left one! Hands are constantly going into her mouth and she's dribbling a lot - makes for a lot of changes of clothes, but then she's got plenty to wear!
