Tuesday 30 May 2006

Well, am in England and am feeling a little dazed! Lauren was brilliant on the plane and slept most of the way, which is more than I can say for me. She has adjusted really well to the time change, and I'm slowly getting there!

Already Lauren is charming everyone - she recognises my parents and has big smiles for them all the time. On Sunday she met my sister, Jane, her partner, Alan, & their son, Bertie. They all loved her, although I think Bertie was a little bit in Lauren's face all the time and she didn't know what was going on! Bertie was also a little concerned that Lauren had a small willy! Jane is pregnant again and is due in November, so Lauren is getting another cousin.

Am having a fairly quiet week, with a family party on Sunday - hopefully I'll have recovered by then!!

Sunday 21 May 2006

The first photo was taken today when we were walking round to Dan & Lou's house (it's Lou's birthday today). Lauren actually loves being in this back-pack, although she doesn't look particularly happy in this photo! The next one was taken as we were about to leave - her & James were just staring at each other, which was really cute.

The final photo shows Lauren asleep in her cot - this is how she seems to sleep at the moment - with her hands tucked under her head!

No teeth this week, but some very red cheeks! Otherwise just lots of smiles, rolls and general baby stuff. She's six months this coming Tuesday - can't believe the time has passed so quickly.

Am not too sure when I'm going to be writing the next blog as Lauren & I are off to the UK for 4 weeks next weekend. Don't know if photos will be included - just depends on how my parent's computer is set up. If not, will add photos when I get back here. Am just hoping that she's not teething on the plane!

Sunday 14 May 2006 - Mother's Day

More photos of Lauren - top one is her this morning (on Mother's Day - my first!). She is wearing a top given to her by Pat & Dick Thraves (family friends). In the middle photo Lauren is wearing a top sent by my mum, and I just couldn't resist buying her the hat! Bottom photo is a typical evening photo - Dave comes home and picks up Lauren and Kitty just jumps in between them!

A fairly quiet week this week - mainly due to us being housebound because my car was broken into on Tuesday and we had to wait to get the window fixed before we could use it again. This got sorted out on Saturday, so we have wheels again now! Luckily nothing was taken (apart from a first aid kit), as have since spoken to other people who said that baby seats seem to be taken a lot.

Everyone seems to think that Lauren is teething at the moment - her cheeks are very red and she's constantly got her hand in her mouth. Who knows when the teeth will arrive? Otherwise all going well - she's still rolling, giggling and being very cute. Even Kitty is finding her hard to resist - or maybe it's because she's realised that there's someone else to stroke her!

Sunday 7 May 2006

Well it's turned a little colder over here, and I just couldn't resist trying this wonderful hat on Lauren. It was a present from my sister's boyfriend's family and is from Next, so of course I love it! She loved playing with the soft bobbles, and needless to say it didn't last long on her head!

A pretty quiet week this week - Lauren was crying a bit at the beginning of the week, but once I started feeding her more, she seemed to sort herself out! However, the more she eats, the more she poos, and she's got more pooey nappies than wet ones! Apparently it's normal for some babies to go once every 7 or 8 days - Lauren is at least 3 times a day, usually more!

She tried carrot this week, which she really enjoyed, however she did throw up a little later and it stained both her clothes and mine! This seems to be the worst food for staining at the moment! She's still not particularly fond of the tinned stuff, and much prefers the home-made food.

Am looking forward to heading over to the UK and showing her off - not long now!
